We provide specialized psychological treatments and assistance for children & adolescents across a range of areas. Different clinical approaches are used to treat the different areas of need. With children it is important to reinforce the learning, often on a daily basis. As such parents play a critical role in the treatment and we like to involve all parents as much as possible. Below are the issues we cater with.

ANXIETY/ DEPRESSION/ SELF-CONFIDENCE ISSUES

Fears (or anxiety) are a natural part of human life and are necessary for our survival. Anxiety is experienced by adults, adolescents and children. However, when fears become severe enough to stop your kids doing the things that they want to do they are considered anxiety disorders. At W-Hospital, we believe that anxious children can be greatly helped by teaching them how to face their fears. Furthermore, children benefit most from Psychological treatments when their parents are involved. Parents know their children best and can help their child to apply the new coping skills and strategies learnt in the treatment. Anxiety and depression are most commonly diagnosed lifestyle disorders among other prevalent psychological issues.

AUTISTIC SPECTRUM DISORDER

Children and adults with ASD can also have co-existing mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and other conditions as well as sometimes serious behavior problems related to their condition. In some cases, inability to communicate can cause serious behavior issues that also impact families and other siblings tremendously. Pratiksha hospital’s professional counselling services can provide invaluable support for children, adults and youths with ASD, as well as for families and couples affected by ASD.

BEHAVIORAL DIFFICULTIES

Common child & adolescent behavior problems include:

  •  Difficulties managing strong feelings (e.g. anger)
  •  Difficulties interacting with others (e.g. peers, family members)
  •  Difficulties completing schoolwork. Bullying or threatening behaviors towards others
  •  Destruction of property

Behaviour problems in childhood are relatively common. While it is natural for children to misbehave from time to time, misbehaviour becomes a problem if it is frequent & serious enough to interfere with the child’s functioning at home and/or at school.

Childhood behavioural problems include the following:

  • Oppositional Defiance
  •  Conduct Disorder
  •   ADHD

Adolescent girls often face difficulties pertaining to puberty and subsequent issues of menstruation, which often needs to be addressed with a lot of compassion. Along with medication, in some severe cases, counselling also helps them cope with the challenge.

WOMEN

Women at different phases of their lives face various challenges and difficulties; which could be anxiety of starting a new life, adjusting into a new family, difficulties pertaining to various gynecological issues, differences with partner and many others as such.

We at Pratiksha provide,

  •  Supportive Counselling
  •  Couple Counselling

COUNSELLING FOR IVF/ INFERTILITY

Infertility counseling deals primarily with the psychosocial impact of infertility, in terms of intervention, treatment and the aftermath of both successful and unsuccessful treatments. Infertility counseling deals with implications, that is, helping patients to understand and contemplate their treatment options and the short and long-term implications of treatment, these are especially relevant in cases of donor gametes. It also involves therapeutic work to help patients cope with the consequences of infertility and treatment.

COUNSELLING FOR OBESITY/EATING DISORDER

Obesity counselling is proven to be very beneficial for those who are overweight. It provides support, guidance and encouragement to the individuals for overcoming the problem and improving their quality of life. Counselling is an effective way to acknowledge and understand the various factors that are adding to obesity. It helps people to take measures that help them achieve and sustain right weight for a life span.
