Dr Cecilia Sjoblom recently visited Pratiksha Hospital, Guwahati on 01-Aug-2015 & 02-Aug-2015 to review the IVF Lab of Pratiksha Hospital. It was a great experience to have her in this hospital which is a pioneer & only IVF centre in the entire north East region to be confirmed as ART (AS PER ICMR).
Dr Cecilia Sjoblom is the Scientific Director at Westmead Fertility Centre (WFC), University of Sydney, Australia. Her position at WFC involves directing the IVF team and leading the Early Embryo Development research group. More importantly, Dr Sjoblom is involved hands on in the IVF lab as a highly experienced embryologist.
Dr Sjoblom’s research interests involve epigenetics in the early human embryo and the effect the culture environment has on the growing embryo. She has also worked with establishment and characterisation of Human Embryonic Stem Cells. Dr Sjoblom has been awarded several prestigious research awards and is well published in journals within the field of reproduction and stem cells.
Dr Sjoblom’s involvement in Quality Management Systems have given her the opportunity to work for the European Accreditation Association (EA) with medical laboratory and health care systems quality issues.
Dr Sjoblom has written book chapters on laboratory accreditation and is frequently invited to give lectures and workshops on the issue of QMS, embryology laboratory set up and pre-implantation embryo development and culture environment.
